Jason Lee Scott splashed cold water on his face. This can't go on At least no one had noticed how sick he was.
He kept hoping the nausea and weakness was simply a virus. Jason knew threw though that was too much to hope for. Grabbing his jacket off his bed he headed downstairs. "I'm off!"
"Jason!" Kyle Scott called. Jason groaned turning to face his father. "You all right son?" Kyle took in Jason's pale face. "You threw up earlier."
Jason sighed. "I feel better already, Dad Tommy's expecting me."
"You sure you’re dead white."
"I'm fine." Well except for this headache
It took some wheedling but Jason finally got his dad to relent. He pulled up in front off Tommy's house ten minutes later.
Tommy climbed in. "Jason you look like shit."
"Don't you start." Jason pulled into traffic heading for Angel Grove high.
The world grayed out for a minute. Jason shook his head to clear it. Everything grayed again, this time fading to black
Tommy grabbed the wheel and turned it maneuvering the car to the side, hissing in pain, he managed to push the brake. He turned the engine off. "Zordon?" Tommy activated his communicator his voice shaking.
"Yes Tommy." The sage's voice was reassuring. "What is it?"
"Jason- Something’s very wrong with Jason. I'm bringing him to the power chamber."
Jason woke to find himself on a cot in a room of the power chamber.
Billy Cranston was sitting next to him. "Hey Jase you awake."
"How did I get here?" Jason tied to sit up and found he didn't have the strength
"You passed out, Tommy brought you here. Jase you’re very sick."
"yeah I have a virus o something." Jason closed his eyes. "I should have stayed home."
"It isn't a virus." Another voice made Jason glance over. Trey of Triforia the gold ranger, stood in the doorway.
"Okay, so what is it?" Jason sat slowly up to keep from passing out.
"I think your body reacted worse than he thought to the gold powers." Trey's voice nearly broke.
"So I'm weaker than we thought." Jason leaned back. "I'll stay in bed tell I’m better."
"You’re not going to get better." Billy's voice was a whisper.
"What!" Jason almost screamed. "What the hell are you two saying?"
Billy and Trey looked at each other. Jason looked from one to the other. "Are you saying I'm - no I can't be I'm fine."
"You’ve got two months." Trey's voice did break this time.
"Two m-months?"
"Unless I find a way to stop your life force from bleeding away."
"Unless we find it." Billy corrected. "But its best if you’re under constant monitoring and in bed the less energy you expend."
"The longer I'll live?" Jason snapped angrily
Tommy slammed his fist into a wall. There was a time he had been so mad at Jason he had wished all sorts of things to happen to him.
"That's not solving anything." David Trueheart sat down beside him.
"I know and if I break my hand Kyle will read me the riot act." Tommy rubbed his hand. "It’s just oh I don't know. I keep thinking about Karma."
"Karma?" David studied his twin.
"Yeah fate. Maybe wishing Jase would get hurt led to all this."
"When did you wish Jason hurt?" David was confused.
"When I was in traction. I was just so angrily at him!" Tommy buried his face in his hands.
"Now you listen to me little brother!" David's voice had grown firm. "You didn't do this."
"But I-"
"Thoughts are one thing in anger, but Tommy, Jason was sick before your accident. The gold powers did this not you!"
"but it’s still my fault I'm the one who asked him to be the gold ranger!" Tommy's voice was full of tears.
"You once told me responsibility was often spread through several people." David stated.
"That was a different circumstance."
"It still fits. A lot of people made the necessary for the gold ranger powers to go to Jason."
"I guess."
"I know, now your dad said something about New exercises?"
Tommy made a face and David laughed. Tommy had recently become stubborn with P.T.
The doctors weren't happy with his progress. In fact, it was doubtful he would ever walk without the crutches again. Tommy didn't know any of this. It had been agreed that he was better off not knowing. "C'mon Tommy." David encouraged.
Two days passed. Jason told his parents he had the flu and stayed in bed.
Although Zordon had told him he could tell them. Jason didn't know how to begin
Tommy dumped Jason's homework on the desk. "Great homework." Jason groaned. "I’m dying and I have to do homework?"
"Hey it’s important to keep hope alive." Tommy told him. "Keep repeating that Billy, Zordon, Alpha and Trey'll figure it out."
"Is that how you get through PT? By telling yourself its worth it." Jason narrowed his eyes.
"Well, yeah because I know I'll walk without these someday." Tommy lifted one crutch. "And I know you'll get better."
Jason exploded. "I’m not going to get better! My life force is bleeding away! I wish I'd never been a power ranger!"
Tommy stared at him. "Aw Jase you don't mean that.'
"No I-" Jason froze. "DAD!"
Kyle Scott stared at his only son. He had gone white. "You’re a power ranger?"
Mary Scott was just behind her husband. "You’re dying?"
Tommy pulled himself upright "I’ll let you talk."
"Tommy wait-" Jason grabbed his arm. "There's something you need to know."
What? Jase what?"
"The truth." Jason’s eyes swam with tears.
"Jason!" Kyle hissed.
Tommy glanced at him, his eyes narrowed. "Jase?" He turned back to his friend.
"you’re not ever going to walk without the crutches." Jason whispered. "I’m so very sorry."
"But my parents, the doctors th-they." Tommy was shaking.
"They thought it better." Mary put a hand on his shoulder. Tommy brushed it off angrily.
"I got to go home!" Tommy would have run if he could have.
Jack Oliver had rushed home at his wife's call. Jessie met him at the bottom of the stairs.
"He won't tell me what's wrong!" Jessie blurted.
the sound of crashes came from Tommy's room. Jack ran up and rattled the locked knob. "Tommy-boy let me in."
"no!" There was another crash and Jessie called up. "He just threw his Karate trophy threw your car window."
""Tommy talk to me!" Jack tugged at the knob.
"Go to Hell!"
UP in the machine base Prince Sprocket was bored, bored, bored, "Daddy I wanna monster."
"all right what kind." Mondo said absently
"A good one."
Mondo considered that. Before long he'd sent down Razor. Razor was nothing more than walking blades.
Baron Von Ize leapt to his feet. "He can't send a monster! I'm sending a monster!"
Moment’s later he sent down Katzila a great big cross between a cat and a lizard.
"Ranger's these are Razor and Katzila."
"Ew!" Kimberly Anne Hart wrinkled her nose."
"And things are pretty bad. Jason's getting worse." Billy told them. "Though he may have made a mistake."
"What kind?" Zack Taylor asked
"Well Tommy’s locked himself in his room and he's not coming out. Telling him the truth seems to have been counter productive.
"You’re telling me." David said slowly. "We have two monsters and we're down two rangers?" The end
